Fall is upon us and it’s once again time to review and adjust your skin care regiment.   Like we change from shorts to sweaters, we should also adjust our skin care for the changing weather.

Our skin is constantly changing and adapting to changing seasonal diets and weather.  It’s important to listen and pay attention to your skin for signs that it’s not getting what it needs. Tight, dry, rough skin. an increase in breakouts and sensitivity are all signs your present skincare routine isn’t working and an update is needed.

The change in seasons can definitely affect your skin.  So if your skin starts to give you signs it’s not happy, try adding some of these skin-care tips to your routine, to keep looking your best this Fall

Ditch the soap – The skin produces more oil in the warm sun-filled months of summer.  So those gel and foaming cleansers are great for deep cleaning morning and night.    Once the temperatures start to drop and skin doesn’t produce as much oil, which means cleanser you used in July can be a bit drying in October. Move to a  non-drying, sulfate-free gel cleanser – I like Burt’s Bees INTENSE HYDRATION CREAM CLEANSER in the morning.

At night I use a lite lotion-based cleanser at night-  As many of you know my nighttime, makeup removing lotion-based cleanser is my Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser.

Bonus – Remember to drink More Water – Moisturize from the inside.

Switch you Moisturizer  As the air becomes cooler and drier, our skin needs more help staying moisturizer.  To help keep moisture in the skin, now is a great time to move from lotions, which contain more water, to creams which contain more oils providing a stronger oily barrier, which means creams both reduce water loss from the outer layer of skin and provide hydration to this layer of skin at the same time.  During the Fall I love to use coconut oil as a moisturizer

Coconut Oil is used in many natural beauty products, and for good reason: It’s naturally antibacterial and antifungal, coconut oil for skin is an excellent moisturizer, it can penetrate hair better than other oils, and, well, it smells like cookies.

Protect your lips  Now, today is the time to start moisturizing your lips to prevent dry, cracked lips as the weather gets cooler. Use a non-petroleum based lip balm for best results.  I love my EOS  100% natural and 95% organic!

Bonus – Wear protective clothing – Hats, Gloves, and Scarfs.

Invest in hand cream.   Your hands are exposed all year long to the elements.  In the summer it’s the hot sun so SPF is really important.  In the Fall SPF is also important, but so is keeping them soft and supple.  There is nothing worse than hands that are dry, cracked and feel like sandpaper.  Investing in a good hand cream today can prevent a lot of scratching and scraping later.  Here’s my favorite that I keep in the boutique – Delectable.  It’s has a soft mint scent.
